Myc Riggulsford has over 25 years experience in journalism, communications and issue management. He runs a wide range of science communication and media skills workshops. Myc I feel was a good introduction to the accademic side of the course and the corporate sphere that lies in PR.
Myc first explained what a pressure group is and why it is important to a PR person. Presure groups normally have a message to give out, therefore the sending and exchanging of info is essential. Most establishments are centred around three things: power, money, infullence.
Myc gave the group some clear discitions between a charity and a pressure group, a charity is meant to not try and change the law however a pressure group is.
An organisation is owned and is supplied with an income, It relies very heaverly on internal communocation, selling an idea and its key objectives. It's focus is what message can it give.

Myc then gave us some presentation advice, he said doing presentations is vital in PR (I like doing presentations) also pictures paint a thousand words so use plenty and not to many words.

Pressure groups all have diffrent agendas and they have to look at how varies groups react. Myc's deffenition pf PR:

"Public Relations is a message"

Myc demonstated a communication model:

Sender..........change........message............reciever

This process allows the communication cycle to address people though the media using communication channels. however feedback barriers can occur such as email failures pratical barriers and legal barriers.
