Visual images are so much more powerful then words to effect the reaction of the recipient. This is why companies and organisations have logos. Firstly logos can be easily identified and secondly the organisation can be universally known. In order for logos to be effective they have to be recognisable to its public. The fast food chain McDonald's is a prime example of a company having a instantly recognised logo of the golden arches. Therefore because this logo has a universal meaning, when someone walks into a McDonald's restaurant where it be in Hong Kong or New York they know exactly what their getting. Therefore one of the most famous logos in the world is very effective.

The famous fashion designers logo works because it is simple, clear and looks without too much effort very professional.
