In an industry where communication is paramount, it amazes me how some people can be so non responsive! Last month, I went to two interviews in London- one for an Account Executive position and another for an Events assistant/intern role. Both of which, I have not heard from since.

This I find incredibly rude since going for an interview means taking time and indeed money out of your daily schedule to attend. In the whole process of things, it takes only a few minutes at most to send an email with a response to an outcome of an interview. Or even just an indication of when a decision will be made. A lack of response from any company in the communication industry (PR is top of my list) gives a negative effect on the brands & clients that they represent (put very well by @KristineKilty on twitter!). Furthermore its common manners to follow up with a candidate after an interview.

People working in the industry should be more aware that it’s their job to respond to people (and not just Journalists & Clients!). I understand that perhaps in a big agency, HR is responsible for this, however in my opinion; it should be the responsibility of the interviewer to respond or make sure someone responds on their behalf. There is no excuse!

However, I do have to mention that I had a lovely interview with a great agency last week called Fire PR who emailed me back within an hour or so of me leaving.
